THE HOPE TEAM

At Haven of Hope, you will find individuals who are warm, caring, and committed to meeting you where you are in in your journey to love like Jesus loves.

  • Founders & Executive Director

Steve & April Swartz married in 1977, and they have five grown children and six grandchildren. Steve attended Rosedale Bible College in Ohio and then spent 3 years teaching music in a private school setting in Goshen, Indiana. A few of his hobbies are farming, fishing, and good conversations. Steve and April moved to Michigan where he served as pastor of a small congregation and then began a construction business. In the fall of 2003, Steve and April were exposed to “Biblical Concepts in Counseling” (now known as “Caring for the Heart Ministry”) and shortly thereafter founded Haven of Hope Ministries. Haven of Hope is an alliance office of Caring for the Heart Ministry. They now work as a team in ministry, helping couples find hope through compassion & restoration.

  • Administrative Secretary

Melissa spent 13 years in the Advertising Department of Pensacola Christian College before she and her husband moved to Michigan in 2003 when he became pastor of Faith Bible Baptist Church. She joined the HOH staff in 2012.

Melissa has been married to Bruce – her best friend – since 1990. They have three grown children, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and 2 grandchildren who all bring her heart joy.

You will meet Melissa at the front desk of HOH. She is happy to answer your questions and show you the facility. You will experience her heart for ministry and her desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

  • Marriage Mentor & Follow-Up Director

Jim and Diane have been married since 2013. In 2014, they felt called to mission work in Ghana, West Africa. For 6.5 years they served as the mission field directors overseeing a Bible seminary, local churches, and various evangelistic outreaches. Jim and Diane were first exposed to Haven of Hope Ministry when they held a Two Hearts, One Flame Marriage Retreat for their local Ghanaian church. Upon their return to the U.S. in 2020, their hearts were drawn to join Haven of Hope Ministry, where Jim is now serving as a mentor showing the love of Jesus to hurting couples. Jim also serves as the Building Blocks for Relationship Follow-Up program director. Diane serves as bookkeeper and cares for the financial needs of Haven of Hope.

The Adamsons have a daughter named Hadassah. Jim enjoys music, photography, and the great outdoors. Diane loves fellowship, travel, and a warm cup of tea.

  • Administrative Assistant

Stacia and her husband, Luke, have been married since 2002 and have 3 children.  Stacia serves as our retreat secretary.

“We both come from a long line of solid marriages, but we have also seen the effects of broken homes while working with teens and employees in our family business and our community.  I love that Haven of Hope provides a safe place for individuals to heal, and I’m thankful to be a part of this ministry.”
